Chloe Green

Marketing Assistant

We need to make sure spaces are well branded and we have the right mix of resources. People expect bottles and notepads but some love gilets and washbags.

Read Chloe 's profile Imge of an arrow

Chloe is a marketing assistant with a global London Market reinsurance broker. Her role is to ensure the company’s brand image and messaging are communicated consistently at every opportunity. That can include anything from events, through to merchandise, brochures or online Web and social media content.

Chloe spends the first hour of most days picking up emails that have come in from overseas colleagues, actioning items so everything is ready for when teams check back in.

Then it’s a question of checking further ahead. Because Chloe works on events that are happening all round the world, it’s important to ensure materials like brochures and merchandise have been designed, delivered and are ready to be shipped sometimes two or three weeks before an event is scheduled.

Chloe says: “We need to make sure spaces are well branded and we have the right mix of resources. People expect bottles and notepads but some love gilets and washbags. We even had a wellness café at one really intense conference with branded smoothies, lip balms and calm balms – that went down really well.”

Chloe enjoys the lack of hierarchy in her team and the fact everyone can pitch ideas to make events memorable. “People don’t always appreciate the amount of work that goes on behind the scenes. The creativity and logistics. Pulling all the elements together and running a successful event is really satisfying.”

Many skills are required to excel in marketing, but there is no set route or requirement for getting into this kind of role. Chloe did an internship for an insurance company in Spain as part of her degree, and that’s what opened her eyes to the opportunities in insurance.

She believes one of the key skills you need to enjoy this kind of role is time management - being able to get today’s social media posts done while still keeping a wide perspective on all the events coming up. “You’re always spinning lots of plates so communication really matters. You have to be comfortable connecting with stakeholders in the business and keeping on top of external suppliers.”
